The Filipino Martial arts are slowly gaining ground in the United States as realistic and practical. With speedy roads to being proficient, one can become dangerous to others (rather than to one's self) in no time. One of the premier organizations in this area of the arts is Pekiti Tersia. Here is a clip of some folks doing knife drills from this fantastic art (and the music is fun too).
